I was discussing survival first aid with my wife today (she is a nurse and is full of good information) and she informed me that honey of all things is also a mild anti biotic. Not only does Honey have a very long shelf life but in a pinch you can heat it up and apply it to a wound prior to bandaging to help hold off infection. This is not just an old wives tale either there is valid medical research on the topic that proves the medicinal qualities of honey, just a little food for thought (pun intended)

We use a lot of raw honey around the kitchen. My wife puts it on burns also and swears it
is way better than aloe.
