Greetings all from south central PA! I was referred here by a member, but I have been busy. I thought that I would stop by and have a look. It will take a bit to learn to navigate the site and I can not send a PM thanking the person that referred me until I post some # of messages or something.
Anyay I will be 53 in a couple of weeks and have been preparing for what I believe is to come for over 15 years. I write blogs and in the past have trained but I am presently in an area where the nearest folks are hours away. I am and have been sort of on my own.
I am an electronics technician (over 35 years now) and also machine, weld, design, and fabricate. I work with the maintenance / engineering department at our plant in projects and fix machinery when I am not doing that. I work a lot of hours at times, especially when a project is going on, building or installing a new machine.
I am a veteran of the United States Navy, and was an FTG (Fire Control Technician Gun) some 30 years ago. I operated and maintained the computer, radar, and gyroscope that controlled the 5" 54 cal. guns on deck. My division also took care of the ship's small arms, which at the time were 50s, M-60s, M-14s, 1911 45s, 38 revolvers, and a few Thompson MG 45s.
I am fairly well versed in more modern weaponry, survival, fieldcraft, first aid, and opther aspects of living without and making due. Glad to be here!
