| Recon Missions are at your own risk, volunteers only You will need a go bag with civilian clothes, a full tank of gas and gear for the mission. GEAR Camera Video camera (if you have it) Binoculars Spotting scope with tripod (if you have it) SALUTE forms Notebook Pens and pencils Flashlight Extra batteries Head lamp ***must have a red LED*** Extra batteries Small survival kit Waterproof matches Fire starter Solar blanket Signal mirror Sewing kit (2) Canteens with covers with (1) canteen cup (1) Hydration system Camelbak Water purification tablets Other misc. items Personal First Aid Kit Rain Gear Compass Map for area of deployment Topo/regular Map tools (if you know how to use them) or a piece of string MRE’s or food enough for your mission Radio communications Cell Phone means of communicating Intel back to HQ Add any select gear you may need for your mission. but remember stay Low Key and not to attract attention to you. Do not go out in full gear,or military gear. you are trying to go out and get Intel not to give yourself away by letting them know what your doing. any questions IM me or send me a personal message.
Remember: Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How many. This is a minimum need for a beginner. LtColMac

| It looks like things are getting in order, giving out information that pertains to what is needed in a Recon mission is a good thing. What is also needed and you probably already have this in order, is the situation report or Sitrep, and briefing for Lrrp patrol. Its good to see that things are getting organized . Thumbs up to the Admin keep up the good work. No one left behind.. always | |

No not really!!! if you have a slight possibility of encountering Law Enforcement or Military it is best if you do not have a weapon. The purpose is to gather Intel. not to engage in any way, shape, or form. LtColMac

| I see your point but I will be armed just in case I am the one that gets engaged I would rather have it and not need it than not have it and need it. the intel gathering would still go the same. | |

| true in this situation it would have progressed to the point were legality really doesn't matter anymore because we will all be labeled as outlaws at that point. | |

I would rather have it and not need it than not have it and need it. the intel gathering would still go the same. Being armed would be a bad idea overall. If you are armed and on your own you will be quickly outnumbered and outmatched. The consequences of carrying a firearm while on recon could bring unintended damage to both the mission and yourself. If you are discovered and the target knows you are armed then gathering any more intel in the future would be nearly impossible. If you appear as an unarmed civilian(therefore harmless), the target will be less likely to beef up security and take less of an action against you. Plus, if you are engaged you will probably be quickly outnumbered and surrounded. If you are engaged during a recon against a larger trained force the best tactic would be to evade the opposing force. To sum it up, cowboy tactics get people hurt and killed and compromise mission success.

| Having a battle buddy never hurt either. Gives you a second set of eyes, and hopefully another calm voice in the chaos if it became chaotic. Being cool under pressure is key to everything in life. Plus two friends out on a hike makes more sense and is a little added security for you. If you got a battle buddy...just in my mind, take him with you. | |
